Ok BigDog Bikers, What is The Most Reliable S&S Engine? 96,100,107,111,113,117,124 ect. Interested in hereing your Opinion.

Answer: All of them. Why do you think S&S can charge more for their motors? Because they are a better product.

the 117ci came stock in my '08 Mutt.... they asked me if I wanted the 124ci before I picked it up new but, I took the stock 117... I love it! Not a problem with it in 4 years.

S&S 107 is like chevy's old 327cu.in. motor. Chevy made lots of changes since the late 1960's, but few can match the reliability and the power that can be pulled out of it. 107 is the same way. Big enough to have tons of power, small enough it will not overheat easily, Plus extra's can be added to pull more power out cheaply.

early years, pre-'04 usually came with the 107" w/ the 117" as an option at the end, and then it went with just the 117" as standard with no option for any other size. :2thumbs:

When I bought my Chopp I was also looking at some other bikes with different cubes and the place that did the rebuild on my previous bike said he would go with the 107 because it is the tried and true S&S motor; kinda like the 400 in the Honda quads.

Although I do joke that I have the small S&S motor, it still has enough power to get the frame flexing. :D

Sorry for leaving out engines guys, the reason i asked was im new to the whole V Twin thing and I have A 100'' S&S superstock with a super G carb and it's runing better than i expected, now that i've put some miles on it. 1700miles so far. Was not impressed with it when new, but it's seems to be runing alot better now, with the miles on it. Thanks in advanced guys, Im no expert as you can tell, but working on it.

In their stock condition, I would say all of them are reliable. The problems begin when people try and modify them and perform the modifications wrong...:D

A lot of chopper companies were using the 111 for awhile, it doesn't seem that popular now. I have dreams of building a bare bones rigid 127" Ultima someday. It's on the bucket list.
