Hi, I am not new to the motorcycle world been riding my whole life and currently have 2 Harleys but have never owned a custom. My neighbor inherited a 2003 bull dog with the 124ci motor with open primary. The bike has 6700 miles on it and looks like new condition. I am thinking about buying it and we are trying to figure out what it is worth. I can't find anything in the market that has that motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say something like that is worth whatever to the eye of the beholder and may never have a true market value.. realistic value of it right at about 7 to 8k.. that 124 and open primary aren't helping the value of these bikes much as far as upsale.. good luck

The 124 is definitely not stock, what type of motor?
Can you post some pics?

The motor is the s&s. I didn't take any pictures of it sorry. I will try to get some this week
Well definitely not stock, and that's pretty low miles for replacing the motor. I wonder if the transmission was ever rebuilt? The 124 would definitely put some serious torque on that trans. Not make making a big deal out of it but the stock 107's have been known to cause issues with the big dog "baker" transmissions.
What kind of open primary does it have? And does it have a outer bearing support?
Sorry about the long post but it's peaked my interest.

Agree, the motor was replace and the 124 isn't the most reliable motor out there. If it runs I'd say $5k to $6k.... You are looking at a 13 yr old bike that has been bastardized... and who know what else has been changed or not changed...

Was there tranny problems in -03 models? being left side drive I thought they are more problem free.

Try to get the numbers off of the engine and call S&S. They should be able to tell you what it is. Post up some pics of the rocker box covers if you can. That will tell also. If it has the old style rockers and no compression realeases then it is more likely a 107. Good luck.
