The way it's described is as if it had some damage.

I wouldn't do that deal on-line. You'd have to inspect that bike before pulling the trigger on it.

This is a SCAM ... when you see someone asking to contact them outside of eBay this is clearly a scam. Also anyone who mentions Western Union is a scammer. I doubt very much this is a valid sale - anytime its too good to be true its not!!

re

Any time the price goes that low, it's not on the level unless it's been wrecked. The lowest I've ever seen a ridgeback go for was an orange 04 for 12...and it was a repo. The owner replaced the wheels with spokes.

:iagree: I copied this from a boating forum....

Online Scams

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just this morning I emailed a person on Craigs List about a motorcycle, price seemed too good to be true, we all know how that goes. Anyway, a person emails me back and right away goes into why its so cheap and immedietely tells me that all payments will be made through ebay (apparently to make it appear legit) but they would just need my full name and address to start a "case". I became suspicious. I sent another email asking for their phone number and never got a response. I guess they are assuming that I wasn't going to pay cash by right away asking for more info? Is getting my full name and address enough to do anything w/ ebay or is that merely step 1 towards getting more account info? Does anyone know how this scam works? By the way this is the second motorcycle related sscam for me in the last couple of weeks. Another guy claimed he and the bike were in London and he would ship the bike over here and provide me with the "data" that the bike was shipped and at that point I was to send him half the money. I called his bluff and surprise, never heard from him again.
Please be careful everyone, especially if you happen to be looking for a bike.

I wrote the guy from the following auction and it has already been taking down. By him or ebay, I don't know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006...241022588QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110241022588

Here's what I wrote the seller...

"I’m going to tell you right now that anyone who is in the market to buy a bigdog motorcycle is going to look at your ebay auction and know it’s a scam right from the get go. #1. you have the year model wrong…it’s on ’05. #2 your price is way below KBB value. 7k…shit, I’ll take 3! 3rd and a dead give-away, you do not want to be contacted through the ebay system. You’re too obvious and careless and probably will end up in jail in the not to far away future. You’re being watched."

Hope you don't mind me using your line RamFl41:)

I found an Ebay auction about a year ago that had a big dog and a harley for sale . the dog was 8,000 and the hog was 6,000 model years 05 and 03. I contact the seller and it turned out to be this guy overseas that claimed he was selling them for a son in the military. they claimed the bikes were in florida and they would deliver. I told him I would buy both, he wanted me to make payment to him online . when I told him that I would pay cash and pic up myself the bikes were suddenly sold. What a scam he thought he had me.
