the bloke who does the more involved work on my bike is thinking about building a bike with oneyes lee, it has three cams, one that drives the intake for both heads and one on each side that drives the exhaust ports for a total of three. these are all driven by a serpatine "timing belt". there is a video on this page if you want to watch some techs put one together.Looks like it will be a good motor.
S&S Cycle X-wedge Engine
Good point, problem with the 124" is it exceeds that magic insurance number by 4" making it hard to insure and very costly - at least here in FL. I was thinking the same thing for my HD with a JIMS replacement motor but my insurer would have said bye bye.Not to disagree but S&S makes the 117 for others as well. Swift motorcycles has the 117 with the lowered compression like we have. Iron Horse had it up to 07. The Iron Horse engines for 08 were going to be the 111 and a 100.
For the money we spend on our 117's and the down time dropping in the non EPA 124 would cut to the chase. I believe if you purchase the 124 engine with their IST ignition it has a 2 year warranty.

I think you’re right on. Had my heads off a few months ago (05 Bulldog) and they diffidently were not 2" intake valve. Would have been major head work to get the 2" valve installed and I would likely have sacrificed some low end power to do it. Smaller ports should increase the velocity at the lower rpm thus give you a little more torque in that range. I'm not looking for max HP at the top end where I rarely run at. Did have them do a mild port job and diamond cut the heads and barrels while it was apart.Lee I think the intake was around 1.9 and the exhaust was in the 1.5 range. Was told that to go to the larger valves would require seat replacement. If I remember didn't Sul shave his heads and get a ratio of around 10.8/1?
