80,000 with no major motor or tranny work huh? That makes me fell good! How do you ride it? Hard riding/racing or just easy cruisin?80,000 on mine and still running good
Ask Eric. I had my 07 updated withe new shaft and bearing around the 6500 mile Mark.I'm curious myself on transmission longevity how many miles before rebuild? I'm pretty sure mine is NOT updated
I was really only being a sarcastic asshole but that is the way I am..I don't baby my dog but also don't ride it like a retard. I will ride it to its potential at times. The key is to maintain your ride as all the members have said. One piece of advise, if you are "twisting your throttle", down shift first otherwise you will be replacing bearings in your trans.Nice bikes bud!!I know croch rockets are for racing, the question is how hard do you ride your big dog? So based off that comment i can only assume you baby the shit out of big dog and never give it much throttle! do you go over 3,000rpm on the big dog? Or is that to much? All serious questions i want to get 80000 out of my motor but i also love giving it a fist full of throttle frequently! Lol..
He had his done for good measure.Did it blow out or did you just do it to get it done
Just a quick note, my Clutch hub nut walked on me and got advise from Curtis to torque to 180ft lbs. the person who worked on the bike before me probably was a HD tech and torqued it to HD specs, 80ft lbs. As said, use lots of High temp/strength red LocTight. JMOHe had his done for good measure.
Mine just ate the bearing at 11K. Some people have better luck. I think the key is the clutch hub nut, mine had walked on me before and I'm sure that didn't help the matter. Make sure clutch hub is 150ft/lbs and lots of red loctite.
Side note I have had both transmission rebuilt and they shift much smoother than new. Actually the K9 even rides down the road smoother now.
Kevin, I'd just have yours rebuilt during the winter so it's done. This year or next, but in the meantime check that hub nut

I had my bike apart installing the Baker open primary and new that I had the old style shaft that was prone to snapping. Its amazing the difference in shifting now than before I did the work.Did it blow out or did you just do it to get it done
Careful with the red . I agree, it's amazing and I'm not entirely sure why. As well as Baker did all the work in house so not sure why they wouldn't be silky smooth from the Factory.I had my bike apart installing the Baker open primary and new that I had the old style shaft that was prone to snapping. You think it could have anything to do with the stock cheap bearings. My 09 is just as smooth as the rebuilt one on the 07 and all I did was adjust the clutch cable. With this being said, it could all go to hell in a hand basket this evening.I agree, it's amazing and I'm not entirely sure why. I would have expected the 09 to have the same bearings though? You think it could have anything to do with the stock cheap bearings.
