What is the stock cam for an '05/117?

Hey pound,
I pulled the cam out and was curious what size it was. The numbers on the cam are: 30-4000 UL9 175-05

Then in smaller numbers is: 3001GR

I'm familiar with cams being listed by 3 numbers, e.g. 600. That's what I'm going back in with.

Any idea what size this is?

It would be a good idea to check your valve springs too.
Thanks PP. I have the red striped valve springs. I think RW said those were good enough for a 600 but I'll have the shop check'em out too. Especially the one that had the bolt lodged beside it. I have the rocker box lids off both sides so I'll take a look and make sure the springs on the forward cylinder are red striped too.

Thanks again.

I've read where many members have gone to the .600 cam. Could you tell a noticable difference from the stock cam and did you have to re-jet your carb? If so, what jets did you end up changing and what size did you go to and from? :D

I thought I read sometime back that the stock cam was like a 529?

It made a noticable difference but I also swapped out the carb for a G.
Think I am running a 78 and 31 jetting....it has been a while.

05 and maybe some 06 had a .569 Comp cam. The S&S cam in them now should be a .546. If you have the single wound bee hive spring its rated at .585

I saw some Comp cams in a J&P book and the numbers were similar, so I feel sure you're right on that. Do the red stripes on the springs indicate anything in particular? I took for granted that it meant they were rated for a larger cam. Looks like assuming has screwed me again. :job: Damn! :bang::bang: I'm wearing the threads out on the bolts from pulling that head. That is the only way to change the springs, right? The cam is in, the engine is all back together other than putting the pipes back on. WTF. I'll do whatever I need to do before I turn it over.
