Hey guys just wanted to see if anybody knew if I took off (disconected) my speedometer and rode my dog will the mileage still accumulate? Will it register the new mileage when i reconnect it?

The reason I ask this question is that I'm in the process of putting on some custom handlebars and will relocate my speedo in due time.

Thanks,
Colby

No, it's all recorded within the speedo unit.

Wow thanks for the quick response! Well I guess I will have to relocate it quick then.

I replaced my front end with a Red Neck springer and now i'm going with their "bad ass" handle bars as well. Controls will be stock but i will have to weld the bars after mocking them up and then drill holes for internal wires.

If you are going to all that expense then you may want to look at the Dakota Digital speedo's Mad Dog has for sale. They fit in the same BDM bucket you have now. They allow you to adjust the mileage yourself. Check out the thread on them.

I thought it only allowed adjustment for the first 100 miles.

After that you had to send it in and for $20 they would program it for you.

I know when I ordered mine, they asked me over the phone how many miles were on the bike. They programmed it for free from what I can tell.

ChihuahuaDog reported that he got his and programmed his mileage into it with no problems for his K-9.

When I got my bagger gauges they charged me $20 to program it.

When it went psycho and added 137K miles to my odometer, they reset it to correct for free.
