What Hits first when leaning in a corner????

Hello,

I would like to know what part of the motorcycle hits first when leaning deep in a corner? 2007 K9

I am trying to find out my limits with this motorcycle, as I have done with my other motorcycles. It is easier on my sportbikes as the footpegs hit first on both the left and right side, letting me know I am at or near my limits.

I am not suggesting I ride all the time at the limits, but I have found this VERY useful in emergency situations. Like I see gravel in the road mid corner, can I lean over more to avoid it? Someone pulls out in front of my, how fast can I swerve and or lean to avoid them?

Thanks

In a right turn it will probably be your pipes. You'll have to go pretty deep to do that.

RETIRED
Pipes on the right, peg on the left and after that it's you ass. Most riding I would think you would never drag.

On extreme RT hand turns my lower exhaust pipe hits. Never dragged anything turning left. Pegs would be first on left turns though. On my Ridgeback I never use JUST the front, especially on gravel or wet roads. Use both brakes in tandem. :D

Right side pipes, left side foot peg. My buddy says when he follows me my kickstand gets close. sometimes I like to ride it like a crotchrocket through the mountains.:whoop:

i have drug the pegs on both sides. be ready, it will scare the sh*t out of you.:eek::eek::2thumbs: (depending on where my foot is on the peg, sometimes it's the heel of my boot that hits first.

Left turn...kickstand warns me just before the peg hits
Right turn...peg first, then bottom pipe on V&H 2 into 2...

Looking forward to retirement
I have drug my Vance & Hines as well as my Martin Brother Madusa pipes even with my new shocks on my 03 Chopper on the right side. On the left it has not happened yet, but have gotten my wife's attention on Needles Hwy on some of the switch backs!

Thanks to all the replies..Looks like my pegs and my exhaust will be my 'tell' when I am getting to close..That is what I am used to on my other bikes. I was afraid that it would have been the frame or something else that might cause me to lowside.

Thanks.. makes me feel more comfortable going into my next corner.

I had to replace the stock kickstand, it was dragging so bad and so often that a lowside seemed inevitable. Now the folding pegs serve as a gentle warning.
