I have a friend that has a xxx carb. and just had a Bandit Clutch and a 595 Macky Cam put in his 07 K-9 and it doesn't run any better than my 05 Chopper. I have a xxx carb also and we both have differant pipes his are Martin Bro. and mine are MM 2's. The only orther thing I have done is put in a Wireplus. Shouldn't his bike run a lot better. And if so what do you think might be holding it back.

sounds like most bases are covered. i don't know shit, but what is he doing as far as ignition goes???? only other thing would be maybe the jets if he hasn't done anything with them since the cam change. IDK

T.Byrd, what cam is in your bike, Big Dog put a lot of different cams in their motors around that time, your bike may have a 600 cam in it and higher compression. I don't know when BDM went to the smog motor (that's what John Sachs calls them) but I have an 07 that came with the 545 cam and 9.6 compression. Your stock motor may very well out perform your friends

What is your point of reference to the statement though? Dyno numbers? Your or same persons seat of the pants feel? Heads up street race? etc....

150 Hp bike isn't any quicker than a 100 Hp bike if the operator of the 150 Hp has differing skills and/or technique ....errr scerd right....:D

by your statement above, I think you anwsered your own thread, not a lot of difference between the two bikes

So the major diff is .026 in cam lift between the two. Not knowing the cam specs theres not a lot of difference. If he has less duration it will build more cyl pressure. If he has more duration you willl find it on the top end. As noted rider vs rider, shift point vs shift point. thats where the diff will be. Learnin were it is and when to shift is where its at. V

That cam is not the best choice for a stock compression motor. He should have put the 580 in his bike. Also you have better pipes IMHO. What aircleaner/intake does he have?
