I have a 2003 Pit that is currently yellow with purple tribal graphics. I had a minor spill and I'm now changing the color scheme. I decided to powder coat the frame black and paint the tins black with gold ghost graphics. My questions is what do guys think about jet coating the engine balck and diamond cut the fins, powdercoat the triple trees black and add black and chrome grips & pegs? Also, which pipe? The chrome forbidden pipes, or street walker FMJ black ceramic with chrome heat shields? Of course XXX and maybe the moflow air cleaner. Just looking for a little input.

Haven't seen a thread on powder coating a motor in a long time but one of the arguments is "heat retention" and with you being located in NO it might be something you want to think about.

Don't know of any proof on this just opinions. Sounds like a good project you have there! :D

Good luck,
Ray

Yep...I'm with Raywood. Do some calling around about the engine work, but the diamond cut is a great idea that looks hot. With all that black, you're pretty much gonna be a "Stealth" bike riding down the highway. Recommend a nice loud pipe like the streetwalkers. Check with Thumper -- I think he may have put a pair on his ride.

How soon till she's done?

Yeah I have thought about doing the motor. decided against it now... give me something to look forward to. But when I do it, I'll probably get the motor blacked out, maybe the cylinders decked back to S&S specs, hone them out, new rings, and diamond cut. Probably get the heads port n polished as well. I mean if you're going to tear down the motor you might as well get everything you could possibly need done at once.

Blacked out bikes look bad ass imo. You can also powder coat the handle bars, struts, lower fork tubes and wheels too. Be sure to leave some polished alm on the wheels to give it that 3D look. It never ends:2thumbs:

if you have the engine out of the bike then there is no time like the present to do all of the motor work. except maybe for your budget
