What are you guys paying for insurance? Full coverage or basic? I got a quote for $92 a month for full coverage with $500 deductible or $45 a month for the minimum coverage. Decided to go with full coverage, What are you paying?

Through Progressive via USAA, I pay $888/year for 4 motorcycles. $397 goes to the Big Dog! My Daytona 675 comes in second at $342. The Triumphs are cheap at $121

100K/300K Bodily Injury, Accessory coverage for $3K, Uninsured Motorist (many of those in Louisiana), Road Side assistance up to $500, and $500 deductible.

So, you are paying more for one bike than I am paying for 3 bikes! Yikes.

Like Nuke intimated you can't really compare $ without taking into account coverage limits. With bike insurance I carry high uninsured/underinsured limits. Your azz is at risk and there are plenty who don't carry or don't carry sufficient limits to cover potential risk. IMO

I think it depends on where you live as well and a lot of other factors, but I'm with GEICO and I have $500 deductible and pay around $180/year......uninsured etc included.....with towing.....

I pay 112 a month with Progressive, but I only pay it for the first 6 months of the year, so its only 625 a year (if I paid it all at once). I also have the 100k/300k with 500 deductable.

not enough time 4 riding
Progressive. Extra medical coverage (I think it is $10,000) Full coverage on the Harley and the Big Dog and just liability on the 92FJ. Full year, single payment was $1071. I live in the northern Virginia area.

Can someone educate me on under and uninsured insurance? If you have full coverage meaning collision and comprehension and the person that hits you is uninsured, are you going to tell me that your own insurance is not going to cover it! It would be a tick or mark against yourself if you use your own insurance, but it would be covered. If its not covered by your own collision, then why not drop your own collision, cause thats only to cover your own stupidity, and just carry under and unisured instead.
How about some feed back.

I dont know the exact details because I dont have the policy yet but it was a $500 deductible and $92 a month for full coverage. Seemed like a lot but not sure. My driving record is good and I have my mortgage insurance and auto insurance with the same company..

you are correct , another way for the insurance co's to build bigger skyscrapers.

you are double covering,
If you have your property insured then it is .
If you have medical insurance then you do.

why we have been hoodwinked into double coverage is beyond me.

they(the insurance industry)got the lawmakers to make liability mandatory.
Now the insurance companies are in charge of the rates ,not the consumer!!

but there still is plenty of uninsured motorist out there.
then they want us to insure them. ??????? :loony:

The "full coverage" you are referring to is for the vehicle. Liability covers others property and bodily injury when it's your fault.

Uninsured and underinsured coverage covers your ass when some turd clobbers you (and it is their fault) and they don't have liability or enough liability to pay for your property, medical bills and pain and suffering.

Say they broke your back and you were bedridden the rest of your life for instance.

Medical insurance won't cover your mortgage and living expenses when you can't work. Nor will it pay for long term care (if you needed it).

So if your own policy only had 100K liability and you had 50K under/uninsured and they had 50k liability, your telling me that at a total of both which is 100k liability runs out your duck shit?
Once that runs out then my insurance I have thru work would pick up my continuing medical until that max's out. After that there's Disability SS.
Pa. also has full tort and no tort, which is the right to sue or not, but if it is as serious as a broken back it doesn't matter which tort you have cause for serious injuries you can still sue. But thats not going to matter because if they don't have anything, your not going to sue and get anything anyway.
I believe they(the insurance comp) wants all your money for just in case
