and so it begins........................

finally got some time and energy to tackle the stripped set screw on my headlight in order to change out that old dingy yellow bulb with a new fresh PIAA bulb! well even tho I now have a very small 1/16" hole in my beauty ring good new is will be easy to line up when I get ready to put everything back together!:bang:

Well that was the easy part, drilled it out then took and easy out to get any remains out of the hole. Came out so well I think the threads will be good enough for the new set screw I scored at work to replace the stubborn one..........

So on with the rubber gloves and I now look like I am ready for surgery or a really messed up rectum exam:eek:..............so just so everyone knows I build small electric motors by day and have 2 small business' for when I find time to keep them rolling but I am a pretty big dude 6'3" 300lbs...........so I brace myself on the front of the bike and grab it with both hands and place my two meaty thumbs on the inner ring..........then with one big grunk I try and spin the ring lefty lousy!:2thumbs:.............ummmmm one more time...........ummmmmm one more time.........:angry::angry:......one more F@#$$#@ time!!!! NOTHING!!! MF won't budge!! I thought I was going to screw the whole front end off the bike!:(

So.............I go into McGyver mo and try and figure out why this MF'er won't move................well............upon closer examination I now see and few bubbles about 8 o'clock on the ring! Hmmmmm yep you guessed it..........some DUMBASS put Super Glue on the outside of the ring!!!!!:spank:

What the F@#$ are some people thinking!!! I took a razor blade and tried to carefully go around the edges of the ring trying to break the bond. Well try as I may I could not break it free. Outside of a rubber mallet I have tried everything and really trying not to ruin the perfect ring and headlight other then that tiny hole I put in the ring:rolleyes:

Any suggestions welcome!!!! I have to get it broke free just can't replace headlight and all still have to get to the wiring plus I don't wanna spend that kind of money vause of someone elses stupidity and laziness!!

dont know if you can take the entire light bucket off and soak the ring in an acetone based solution but it is suppose to soften the glue. dont know the effects on chrome though. get some finger nail polish remover and try a small spot.

Then find the guy you got the bike from and punch him really hard, like all of your 6'3" and 300lbs hard worth right below the ribs in the guts. That would make me feel better about buying a new head light.

Don't forget to cover your front fender with something that won't allow the acetone or fingernail polish remover to penetrate it.

You might post a wtb in the swap section. Someone may have one lying around for you cheaper than you think.
