What air ride for a 04 Chopper?

Hello All,

This is Antonio, from London, England (04 Chopper) - I joined the forum a while ago and have been coming in every now and then although not very active on the posting front...sorry!

I have been riding my Big Dog here in England throughout the summer but as soon as I rode with a passenger (mostly the wife) the bike goes very low and kickstand touches the ground too often.

I've been doing a bit of research air suspensions/rides (with help from my friend Phil at Three Spires Customs, top man) and it looks like we're down to three options. I've also been researching this forum at it looks like most people fit the Air Legend kit...

So I guess the question is - which air ride would you go for :

1. Legend Air Rides
2. Progressive Air Tails
3. SAS air rides by CCCS

Any advice based on experience, especially on 2 and 3?

Thanks a lot!

Antonio

As an alternative to possible air leaks, compressor problems, switch control problems and leaky shocks as posted here lately I would offer the following.

Your shocks are made by Works Performance down in the Los Angles area. For just over $100 they will re-valve your shocks to your specifications.

Just something to think about.

Thanks Raywood - I read the thread you made reference to, certainly an option - the dilemma I have is that I think that by the time I've shipped my OEM shocks out to LA and had them shipped back to Europe I could be looking at close to the same I could spend in a decent air suspension...btw saw your picks and boy can you load stuff on that Dog...how do you manage (suspension-wise) to ride solo and then ride pillion+rally stuff without being able to adjust load?

Mobsta - thanks agian pal - do you know which exact model of legends fits our 04 Choppers?

Thanks guys!

demo man

coming to a ghetto near u
if i were you i would research this real good. i had bdm install theirs on my bike and the shock failed ,and now their telling me that it only has a 90 day warranty. i guess their trying to increase their sales by making me buy 2 of the same shock in a year!

which air ride did you finally decide on? went from florida to kansas and shocks couldnt handle load, someone suggested either air ride or heavy duty adjustable works shocks?

I've got the same problem. I've been looking at doing something different with my 04 chopper too. Air is about the only solution i've come up with as I ride alone (180lbs) half the time and have my girl on the fender the other half.

Stay away from a system called bargain air ride from three spires customs .mine has constantly leaked and cant find replacement seals anywhere also they may possibly be going out of buisness go with the shotgun system good reviews and good luck Im going back to progressive non air adjustable shocks:flag::flag::flag:
