Was there a ever definitive answer as to why our bikes cut off?

Replaced EHC with wire plus from Curtis. Bike ran fine for a while then symptoms returned. Took it to shop where they rewired it " LIKE A HARLEY" and seems to be fine now. Just curious, was the problem the EHC or the wiring itself

i believe you could ultimately end up with as many answers to that question as there are active members here on the forum. in the eight years/16k miles i have owned mine, it has never just cut off on me. now that i have said that, it probably will.

My 04 would die on me because there was a recall with the harness connection to the EHC which was fixed after 05. I replaced mine with the WP and has ran perfectly for 8,000+ miles. I also never replaced the stock BDM keyswitch when I did the install which others have had issues with in the past cutting out bikes.

Loose wires will do it every time man!

Yup,

Connections MUST BE CLEAN & TIGHT at all times.... vibrations on these monsters can get loose anything... I lost a few bolts over the time. I just loctite everything now!

BTW, I am still running the original EHC on my 06 K9. never had a problem............. (only a bad VR last year).

I have had the problem with my 02 mastiff and replace the coil goes away every time .. I think the coils can't handle the heat

That's one of the reasons I do a complete tear down every two years. Relocktight everything, and check all the wiring.

When I got the first KMW now BD it would cut off because of a defective ignition switch

Mine would cut out, but the whole charging system failed. Replaced stator, rotor and crank position sensor
