Was 2003 BDMs first 'chopper'?

I read that BDM was around since '94 but the only true choppers (extended forks etc) that I've seen start in 2003. Any pre-2003 BDM I've seen has more of a custom cruiser (like an HD) look.

Sheldon started out tweaking the HD's that were everywhere. Once it caught on his focus shifted to full on custom bikes. Then came the chopper craze on tv. Sheldon followed the trend. 2003 was the first year of the "Chopper". It morphed into the K9 after a couple yrs.
