Volts

How many volts are supposed to be at the battery on a 01 mastiff, 3000 rpm it reads 13.5, idle its reading about 12.5. I am not sure if its charging.

Sounds a bit low. Sholud be over 14 volts. Check your stator to confirm if its your Voltage regulator. V

FYI, I pulled 3 bikes out of the garage right before the rain came and found my fully charged Braille Battery at idle had a terminal voltage of 14.10 volts DC and when the bike was shutdown it was around 13 volts.

I had the same issue and it was a bad vr... Once I reoved the vr and it fell apart, I knew it was bad... I got a Cycle Electric and now it reads right around 14 at idle...

Thanks for all your info guys. Now I know you guys know....but how do ya check the stator.

I would normally start by using the search feature of the forum. I'd type the word 'stator' into the search box and hit return. That would allow me to quickly find several interesting threads. But, I'd probably scan that results list and be drawn to the following one....

Or, I might just pull the stator plug while the bike is idling and test across the 2 pins for A/C voltage.....
