VOLTAGE REGULATOR PLUG

This tip may help someone.
I had an issue a few years ago where after riding for a couple hours the battery went dead and after shutting off engine it would not start. Lucky for me we were on our way to an event in Oregon and riding with a bud so we swapped batteries at every stop. Quite the hassle as all my camping gear had to be removed to take two up seat off to access the battery. Looked over as much as possible but never found the culprit, so enjoyed the weekend. And we did the battery swap thing all the way home. Thought maybe a wire under the tank was the issue, found nothing. Read everything on this site and looked at a lot of possibilities and it was never one of those, the battery tested fine.
Contacted Curtis at Wild Steed, he suggested checking the stator connection, and ended up buying his VOLTAGE REGULATOR PLUG RETAINER

No issues since and I still have the original EHC.

• Made from aluminum and chrome plated

Pull your Case Bolt

Flip your stator plug

Install your new case bolt and stator plug retainer with Red Loc-tite to 18ftlbs.

Curtis hooked me up with one of these as well , I am not sure if it’s going to fit with the open primary. Need to check the length of the bolt.

First and last picture not showing up for me.

I was cleaning and knocked it out one day and didn’t realize it. Died and jumped it about 4 times one night.

Finally died in front of this guys house. He was kind enough to put it on his charger, gave us a beer while we waited.

We were standing around it admiring it and we noticed it partially hanging out.

After ~20 min fired it up and away we went. No problem since.
