Very strange ignition problem......

Hey guys, Im working on a 02 pitbull with a 107S&S engine. Im having a issue with the ignition system. Here is where it gets strange. The bike idles and revs like it should in netural. But when you ride it anything over about 1/4 throttle it cuts out and only runs on one cyl.......But as soon as you throttle down to around 1/8-1/4 throttle it runs on both cyls. Any ideas?

Coil seems strong and it will bite the crap out of your hand both cyls.
Engine has equal compression both cyls.
Plugs are not fuel fouled and are burning clean.:loony:

Not to sound like a smart ass or anything, but if you go back to the basics, fuel + air + spark = combustion. Sounds like your pretty confident the spark is there. Could you have some trash in one of the jets, or a bad vacuum leak. Just thinking out loud.

Claw maybe onto something. Is that area a transition from one jet to the next?

I remember a while back about a month or so someone was having a similar problem and it was the coil.

Check your plug wires ....had the same problem on my 03 PIT

Wires and plugs are new and the carb is clean...I will have to test the cam sensor, and the coil. Will post what I find soon.

So in Neutral you can run at 3,000 - 3,500 RPMS extended period of time and its fine? However you put it in gear and try the same you now have a problem?



Sounds to me that maybe when your riding and bouncing around a wire is shorting out somewhere. What wire? Who knows anywhere from the plug wires to the ignition to the cam sensor. :bang:

any one know of an HD cross referance # for a coil for an o2?

I'm going to install a timing light on one plug. I am going to tape down the trigger, then tape the timing light on the handlebars so I am looking at the light flicker.

When I take off, I am going to have either the ignition cut out or a fuel clog in its transition; the timing light never shut off.

1. Compression = I checked and that variable is eliminated.
2. Fuel = Cuts out during transition under load.
3. Spark = Cuts out during acceleration, then electrically drops out.

It is either or, not both... Make sense?

turs out the led on my ignition module was lying. in other words the led worked as it should but Bobby S sent it to thunderheart and they tested it and it was bad.Bobby installed a ne one and wal la its fixed..Thanks Bobby!!!
