I just installed some new Jims lifters and pushrods trying to correct a valve issue and that problem was fixed, but now there is a new one. When i start the bike everything seems fine, but when the moter is good and warmed up the rockers get so loud, it makes the motor sound like it has a high performance sewing machine on it and this sound is driving me crazy because it is just so loud. Lets put it like this I pick a girl up to take for a ride and she even asked me what is that sound is it supposed to sound like that. Is this normal or not, I used to have 1200 sportster years ago and that motor never made a sound like this. The only reason I mentioned the sprtster is because it had the evo motor design like the S&S motor. Is there anything I can do to fix this sound or at least make it were it is not as loud. I would really appreciate any help with this. Thanks

Ihad a Heritage Sringer with big cams and a 95 kit stage II. The rockers were so loud you could not hear the exhaust. After replacing the lifters adding quickie pushrods ajusting to spec and generaling spending to much time and money a great mechanic at the Harley dealer traced it to worn rocker arm bushings. after they were replaced it still ticked some because of the cams but not near what it was.

What was the valve issue that made you change lifters and p/rods? How soon after the change did you develop this new noise.

My rockers are just as loud, but they don't seem to sound as rough as the ones in the you Tube video.
The reason I changed the lifters and pushrods was to try and correct this problem and also I thought one of my pushrods was bent a little because when i adjusted them. The one on the rear cyclinder would turn easy then get hard, and back to easy. i took that as a bent pushrod because the one on the front cyclinder would spin around like it was supposed to do.
Iguess I will have the rocker arm bushings check and probably replaced if they are worn.
Could abyone recomend some good high performance rockers to replace them with. I'm not sure if i should do the roller rockers or not. I've heard people complain as to how loud they are, but they couldn't be louder than what i have now.
