On the original 05 there is a circuit breaker that has a very small reset switch. This would be external of the EHC, however there was a TSB to change that breaker for an inline 40 amp fuse that is between the Voltage regulator and the battery. Do you have the 40 amp fuse? If not check on the positive battery cable from the battery and see if there is a CB and if so feel around the bottom and there is a small button to reset. If by chance you do have the CB, recommend you switch to the 40 amp inline fuse.

The internal CB within the EHC, is a self resetting type but there is a procedure to do so that involves disconnecting for like 30 min or so and then re-powering. do a search and pretty sure someone posted up the exact procedure for such. If it is that internal CB, good luck for that is like a last resort item and many times the EHC is shot if there is enough to cause it to trip.

full charge at 12.5???? normally, this is low, should be at least 12.8. check to verify that your compression releases are operating.

i had the battery tested and an exide battery dealers and they said it tested fine and a constant 12.5v so should work fine. there is no power to anything at all from the battery to lights starter or compression releases and the lights do not come on the ehc either everything is dead all leads checked both ends and all ok, so something has gone in either the EHC or the voltage regulator ????

many thanks i was just reading about this, i do have the 40amp fuse and thats fine ?. i have checked for the reset switch but like you suggested it must have been replaced at some time, i do not know why but i have a gut feeling it could be the voltage regulator i could be wrong but i have no idea on how to test it, i thought it had a overheat reset thing built in but im not sure on this. if not the voltage regulator it has to be the EHC its so dam frustrating that there is no way it lights up and says im dead or there is a problem here check me out :bang::bang:

Do you have power (12VDC) going to pin A-3 of the EHC? And a good ground at pin A-4?

If your battery is charged up when you turn on the ignition switch something should light on the EHC. The VR has nothing to do with the EHC not lighting up. If it's bad the only thing will happen is that the battery won't charge up with the bike running

If you for sure have power and ground to the EHC you need to check if the ignition switch is supplying a ground on pin B-36. That's what should turn the EHC "ON"...

I had the same exactly problem with my bike, happen a few hundred miles after I jumped it with my truck. The EHC went completely bad I had not power to nowhere like you. But I think when I jumped it I crossed the cables for a couple second, and there I fried my EHC, or I least I think was the beginning of the end of my EHC. Went with wire plus.

I have one and the only problem with it is that the pin for the oil pressure is broken so it will not supply power to the oil pressure idiot light. You could do a straight by pass from the oil pressure switch to the wire going to annuciator board if you wanted the OP light or just mount a gauge (which is what I did for it).

It was working fine until I changed out my whole system for a PDM. If you are interested let me know and we can see about sending it on over to you.

Dave, on reading your email... It seems to me the previous owner did NOT take much care of this Dog... regarding the top motor mount bolt being missing for awhile, it is a common known problem the bolts on this bikes (due to vibration) tend to get loose easily...

I recommend you to do an overall thorough check on the whole bike and use loads of LOCTITE everywhere!!!

i have my new EHC and it works fine, the bike started fine so i put her all back together and tried to start the bike again and all i got was a clicking noise from the starter, so i checked and double checked all of the wiring and all was good so i tried to start her again and got the same noise, so thinking its the battery i bought a brand new agm type battery, installed it and got the same result so i took the end off of the solenoid and pushed in the post and got more smoke. so now i have pulled the starter and taken it a auto sparky and he told me oil has been getting in and turned the bushes into mush so he is rebuilding it for me and it should be back later today, i will update where i am up to once i have everything back together again. but first i would like to thank Curtis from Wild Steed Worx & services for the new EHC and all of his help and info with this problem, and also Franco for his humor and of course help too.

Prolly fried your EHC ,by jump starting,those things are extremely sensitive,I don't even keep my bike on a trickle,cuz I fried a couple of batteries that way,I never leave it plugged for too long,good luck!!!

i have allways kept my bikes on a battery optimizer without any problems, but i think the jump start was the killing touch these big dogs are so sensitive and touchy and certainly dont like to be mis-handled, my last bike was a 98 flstf and it was bored out to the max with valve reliefs but it would sometimes wind the battery right down when it was really cold here, and i had no choice but to jump start it from the car just to get her going on the frosty mornings to get to work. i could of used the car but it adds on too much traveling time getting stuck in traffic and i love riding and have done for over 40 years.
