very DEAD DOG ??

i have a 05 mastiff and i added a lead fused from the battery to allow me to charge my cellphone while out riding. first time i tried to start the bike after that the battery was allmost flat ??, even though nothing was plugged into the charger lead ( i used a waterproof cig lighter lead ) so i jump started the bike went for a ride and all was good no probs, got back home stopped and started fine no probs, put her to bed on charge, and went to start her the next day and nothing no lights no nothing all dead battery is fine fuse is fine all tested good but turn the key and she is as dead as any help would be appreciated, i have checked all the leads and everything that should be connected is just no power to nothing weird or has the EHC died is there a way to check it ??

When you say "jumped" what exactly do you mean?
You are absolutely not supposed to jump start these bikes.

ok bugger by jump start i mean i ran leads from my car to my bike battery to start the bike which it did and ran fine, and after a ride it still started ok. the battery is fully charged and tests fine, i have tested all the connections from the ignition and all are good but there are no lights from the EHC ( leds on the top of it ) i have taken out the ehc and the nuts on the battery mount have vibrated holes through the metal casing on the ehc but it looks like it has been this way for a long time. it looks like i will have to send the ehc off to Wild Steed Worx, but that's half way round the world from here in NZ so wont be back for a while ?? is there anyway i can test it myself on a PC or ??.
many thanks for your input and help is there anything else it could be ? the only thing i haven't checked so far is the ignition (key) switch which has two orange wires that i will test tomorrow.

Back up a bit and take the cell phone charging wires back off and see if the battery still goes dead after sitting.

did you have your battery LOAD tested....it is important to rule that out first...

As stated above verify you're battery first.
Put it on your trickle charger and make sure it has full charge first.
If it has a full charge and you still get nothing then disconnect the battery positive, wrap the cable end with a wrag. Check each of the EHC connectors for looseness if loose tighten and check again. If nothing then pull each connector check EHC for water and contamination. Clean if necessary, apply dielectric grease and install.
You can buy the diagnostic software and cables from BD is about $165
Dont jump to any conclusions

How old is the Battery...??
DO NOT jump right to the EHC having an issue, Most of the time it's something else...
Also the biggest thing with jumping the bike is the vehic that is supplying the jump should NOT be running... Also not a bad idea to remove the outlet that you installed and see if it still go's dead as BWG56 said..

i have allready removed the charge cable but everything is still the same ??, i have checked the connectors on the ehc all are good and clean, its 9am here now so im just off to have the battery load tested i will post the result shortly though i do not think this is the problem as it has taken and held a full charge but you just never know so i will eliminate that and look at other options from there.

battery has now been load tested and came back excellent and holding a full charge at 12.5v, all pins to all connections have been dialectic greased and all pins on the ehc are good so now im going to try and test the ignition ( key ) switch and fingers crossed this is the problem if not then im off the road for a while while the ehc goes of to be tested or a complete rewire im just stumped at the moment as to what the problem is ???

full charge at 12.5???? normally, this is low, should be at least 12.8. check to verify that your compression releases are operating.

That could cause damage to your EHC.

ok battery tested good put everything back together tested the ignition switch (key) and that works fine, but still no power is getting to anything, ie i turn on the key no headlight or anything at all no horn turn signals nada nothing at all. i have read the manual and there it states that there is a CB or thermal reset button i have took everything out of the battery tray and i can not find it ?? does this simply mean the fuse ?? if so this is fine i am used to working on simpler bikes without the EHC stuff and mostly it would be a rectifier problem or fuse this EHC stuff is beyond me it looks like im going to be off of the bike for a while til it gets sorted fu*#

That thermal CB is located inside the EHC.

Do you have power (12VDC) going to pin A-3 of the EHC? And a good ground at pin A-4?

While your at it check your charging from your VR.

You could have fried it, have you checked the curcuit breaker, or do you have a fuse in the curcuit somewhere.

Anything is worth trying before accusing the EHC of going "toes up".
