RETIRED

Put a set a saddle bags and it would look just like a fatboy. It's amazing how much big dog copied the Harley brand and got away with it.

I was under the impression that Sheldon started with HD's and just modded them. The early Dogs are mostly HD. With only 2k miles on this one, he musta polished more than rode. Nice example tho.

The great thing about these platforms is the ride. 107 rubber mounted. Frame is 5" longer than a Harley from the triple tree to the back of the driver's seat rest. (Before I got mine, I spent $7k pushing the front end of my softail away from me so my legs would fit). The center of gravity is up front between your knees rather than under your butt. The fork rake is 5 degrees greater than a Road King. The riding position is rotated back - kinda half way between a softail posture and a FLH. If you are 6'-4" and taller you cannot find a better bike for long legs. This bike is made for 4000 mile rides with back-to-back 600 to 800 mile days. The bikes were more pure forms of aftermarket product from S&S, Baker, Vance & Hines, etc. 2000 was the year when all those components were bullet proof. The Mikuni carburator should make that puppy scream and move through the power band like butter.

Reminder: 2002-2004 was when BD achieved production status that forced emissions compliance. That's when the compromise of the 117CI showed up. Prior to that, it was 107 road-worthy reliability with a racing cam, square hard teeth shift in the Baker and a whole planet away from the 82 CI HD world. Please, refrain from the condescending diatribe until you ride up next to me after a few beers and a 800 mile final leg of a trip with a view of a four block cityscape without a light. (Yes, this is an Evan Williams enriched post).
