I haven't had this issue but was told by a buddy of mine that rides a K-9 that this would cure the problem and that he installed this on his bike when new. It's a 2006 and he's had no issues. So while changing over my fuel lines to stainless I went ahead and installed this sheild just for preventative measures. Hope this helps some of you. By the way, it's been in the mid to upper 80's here since I got the bike and it runs great, even in traffic which gets pretty hot on the engine.
