Hi,

Now that it took me 4 days to get my Exhaust on after running into every issue I could have with everything not fitting, my Chopper is running very rich... I pulled up to Life Cycles motorcycle store and everyone outside came up to me and said they can smell it being way too rich. What do I do to adjust it from being too rich?

Thanks,
Bob

You change out the main jet from stock? If so, change it back. Check your fuel screw and make sure it is not worn then do your adjustment.
Turn your fuel screw all the way (clockwise) till it is lightly seated (DONT force it tight) counting the number of turns. Now back it out all the way and remove it being careful to not loose the spring on it. Inspect the needle tappered end by looking for any grooves and running your finger nail up it. If any wear at all, replace it with new. They are less than $9 retail.
Place new fuel screw back in and lightly seat it. A good starting point is 1 1/2 turns out from seated.
To adjust fuel screw make sure your bike is up to normal temp. With bike running, turn your accelerator pump screw all the way off counting the number of turns out so you can turn it back out the same amount. With this all the way in (clockwise), now turn your fuel screw in (clockwise) untill the idle starts to slow down. Back it back out (counter clockwise) till it does the same thing. Now turn it back in (clockwise) around half way between these points untill the idle is at it's smoothest point.

Hi,

Thank You, I was using a 78 main jet I believe. I just have my intake that isn't stock and my bike runs good with a 78, it just gets really bad gas mileage. I got a 76 jet I think, it should fix my issues I was told. It runs amazing other than the rich smell it gives off and the popping. I need it read for next weekend to ride at least 100 miles one way, so far the longest ride I have done at one time is 34 miles each way. I don't have a problem riding, I have just never had anywhere to ride to.

Thanks,
Bob

I went from the V&H 2 into 2 big radius to the 2 into 1 big radius and we had to change the intermediate jet. The bike was running fat after the pipe change.
