Funny u all r talkin about this, I got a call the other day asking if my bike was for sell and what I should put it up for (16,500) and sent me an email with other like mine for sale and other like mine that had just sold within 90 days prior and what they sold for.. average price was about 17,200 and that's because one guys sold his 08 k9 for 21k because of low mileage blah blah.. but if u looked at the ads and averaged it yourself taking that one out, it was on the mark of about 16k.. so just do some research. Go to seller network and they show all the mags they produce in etc.. one of them is Cycle world and just look up big dog and you will c what they r going for. Yes if u have the factory shit wiring u aren't going to get much.. but if you have replaced it and updated it, you will get what it's worth.. good luck
Who bought one for 21K? Unless it's a bagger someone over paid. There's 5-6 on eBay now for <10K so if your paying 21 you just didn't do your due diligence. That would also have to be a cash transaction won't get a bank to write a note for that value.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/152210925169

There are some very much needed upgrades on Big Dogs to make them reliable but once that 3K in parts is spent you should be good. I do like the 04 model because it only needs an electrical upgrade. Trans and clutch are fine. I've put more work into the 07 than the 04 by FAR! And I've owned the 04 much longer, with more miles go figure That's why I'm glad in 2016 they got rid of the problem parts.

07+
Electrical system upgrade
Clutch Carrier
Transmission main shaft and bearings.

If you got an 05 add another bit for TP fix.

That about sums it up right there. Good job.

To each his own... I personally value my bikes on what work I've put into them. With that being said, my 05 Ridgeback will be staying with me. But to me, half the fun is tearing into it, inspecting all components, and replacing any problem parts. It's a great bonding experience. You really get to know your bike and take pride in it because YOU are the reason it runs great. Big Dog's are incredible bikes, IMO the best on the road. I enjoy putting the time into our bikes.

I agree with Justin. I can't afford a nice fancy over powered hot rod but I can afford a great looking custom motorcycle that is as much or more fun than a hot rod. I love my bike and take pride in the way it looks and runs because my hands have been on it. Big Dogs are incredible bikes.

Since I am not a dealer, I don't buy vehicles based on what I could sell them for. I give less of a shit about the book value of my Big Dog than I do about the value of my junk mail. Any "hobby" item will have a pitiful resale value in anything other than an economic boom.

Any vehicle or machine has its issues read up on Harley's shit motors they are using they have tons of problems with that said and not to repeat myself any and all machines have their problems and I'm a firm believer in that any vehicle or machine will treat you as well as you treat it.
Well said, your scoot is always looking immaculate and I'm sure very well taken care of which is why we don't hear about problems with it. Take care of your ride and problems will be minimal.

Just wait! Soon enough Kevin will be asking questions :). These bikes are good but not maintenance free

Just traded my '01 Mastiff (13,000 mi) on a '12 Road King Classic. Had been trying to sell the Mastiff everywhere for $5,500 obo. No interest no where. Unfortunately BD's got a rep for being electrically unreliable and general trouble. Often they are lumped in with Big Bear and AIH, both of which you can't give away. Harley riders want Harleys, not one of the sea of customs out there. There is a great reluctance by buyers to purchase a vehicle whose manufacturer went out of business. BD in the early years had a chance to address all of their electrical problems and never chose to, running down the name and value of their product.

I guess now you will have to change your handle to "The King"..... Watch those rear passenger pegs. They will break your ankle when pushing the bike forward while sitting on it.... Ask me how I know... and IF you don't believe me, just ask me.... Good luck with the King a great riding/cruising bike. Oh, and I agree with your post. It's a shame.

I bought my k9 from HD dealer for $8750. But I bought it to keep for hopefully 20 years not worried about depreciation. Funny part is I ride It more than my ultra. I would not be saying that if I didn't join bigdog biker though. Thanks to the members and all the resources on the sight the dog been reliable and running strong

:old2::old2::old2: You forgot a few zeros! Probably just a typo. Mine's worth $18,975,433,888 and don't even bother figuring this number out. For cash, I'll knock off $777.00. Also, I'll have to be able to replace it with one or two other Big Dogs. Just my :2cents:
Yes Sir. 18 Billion but I don't know how to add.. I think at last count mine was worth 17 billion. Your must have the 330 rear tire which adds about 1 billion to the value.. My bike is my bike and the price to sell no one can afford.. :D
