The only difference in MC 20x50 and auto 20x50 is the mc oil has additives for wet clutch/and chain ...its really not needed in bikes that have a sep tranny/clutch but won't hurt . So it would be fine to use 20x50 val .. but I would add as I'm a Ammsoil fan to use synthetic as these oils resist over heating better and break down . And air cooled motors do heat up and can get very hot in traffic ! Just my two cents ... Royal Purple uses Molybdenum Disulfide (Moly and I'm not a fan of this " MO" remember "slick 50"? I won't get into the oil wars as this has been discussed before but hear.. a good link ..
Royal Purple vs AMSOIL

I'm new to Big Dogs, can you use syn oil everywhere?

Before I recently purchased my first Big Dog, I had a '92 Fatboy and used synthetic oil in the crankcase, primary and transmission. I've read a couple of posts where Big Dog owners use a different fluid for each. Is this the norm or just personal preference?

I have Mobil 1 synthetic 20w50 in my engine and primary without issue. I found it at walmart when needing to do a late night oil change and primary douche. I noticed on the back of the Mobil 1 carton they advertise as being the recommended choice for use in all S&S V-Twin motors.
