V&H 2-1 INSTALL

This post is basically a big thank you to Stlmikie :2thumbs: and another good friend Bill who did all the work making the V&H 2-1 pipes for a Ridgeback fit on my Mastiff.

On trying to fit the pipes we found that the attachment bracket on the pipes was to far aft, so Stlmikie took the pipes and relocated the bracket 3 1/4 in. forward, he also modified the the baffle per Gasmans instructions (thank you Gasman) :2thumbs: by removing the cap in the baffle.

You can still buy the mounting bracket from V&H for the 2-1 on a Mastiff, the one that came with the pipes is designed for the Ridgeback.

The only two problems we encountered was after re-welding the bracket on the pipe itself there was material from the weld on the inside of the pipe, which prevented the baffle from going back in. Bill removed the excess with a Dremell.

The second issue was the mounting bracket had to be bent ever so slightly to fit correctly.

All in all, the pipes are on the bike and look great and sound even better, and for those who have a 07 and up Mastiff and probably K9, this is a way to get the 2-1 pipe on their bikes. As I understand it, V&H isn't making the 2-1 pipe right now, but there are still some Ridgeback pipes available.

It is geat to have good friends

Bill, Mikie took mine apart, he said it was easy, I would give him a PM as he was the one to do it. Yes I do like the sound better than the V&H 2-2 much deeper, but not too loud

Thanks Stephen .... looks pretty easy seen the 2-set screws on the back side of the collector for baffle removal .... once I get the baffle out i should be able to punch out the cap and remove the fiber glass packing material too..
