Hey I got us a new memberread post#9, nice intro
yea, I had mines done (EHC bypass) a few years ago about a month after I bought the bike with NO problems. my only complaint is that now my tachometer does not perform as before. the most it will show no matter how high the RPMs are in 3 bars. bummer.I looked at it this way.. it cost me around 500 for wiring harness and all that and that gauge and I have never had the headaches everyone else has had due to my bike being EHC-less.. lol. (My own word).. so that's kinda how I stomached it.. of course I got new controls and bars but that was gunna be done n e ways just to have a unique dog.. so that's how I feel about it..
I put in a whole new wiring harness and I have a temp gauge, volt meter and rpm gauge.. never had any issues.. getting rid of all that BDM computer bs was the best thing I have ever done!!yea, I had mines done (EHC bypass) a few years ago about a month after I bought the bike with NO problems. my only complaint is that now my tachometer does not perform as before. the most it will show no matter how high the RPMs are in 3 bars. bummer.
What gauge did u use to replace it with because I was told I would have issues trying to use a BDM gauge or a replacement style gauge like the one listed in this threadyea, I had mines done (EHC bypass) a few years ago about a month after I bought the bike with NO problems. my only complaint is that now my tachometer does not perform as before. the most it will show no matter how high the RPMs are in 3 bars. bummer.
No you should be able to use stock gauges too. The tach signal comes from the ignition module completely bypasses the EHCWhat gauge did u use to replace it with because I was told I would have issues trying to use a BDM gauge or a replacement style gauge like the one listed in this thread
Yeah we are talking about different things then, everything is hardwired in aside from a few deutsch connectors for lights and so on. I have a Harley wiring harness.. the only thing left with any board is my LED signals and breaks and tails of coarse.. had to get rid of factory controls and speedo..No you should be able to use stock gauges too. The thunderheart ASM will plug right into our gauges and should function as is. Which is what happens on the ESC and RIP

Got some kind of ignition module though which carries the tach signalYeah we are talking about different things then, everything is hardwired in aside from a few deutsch connectors for lights and so on. Couldn't tell u.. I'd be lying.. I researched for about a year before buying the dog and the kit.. lol.. and this was the best way to go.. got the idea from the guy who owns the shop I bought it from who was once a dog dealer..Got some kind of ignition module though which carries the tach signal

Remember what kit it was?Couldn't tell u.. I'd be lying.. I researched for about a year before buying the dog and the kit.. lol.. and this was the best way to go.. got the idea from the guy who owns the shop I bought it from who was once a dog dealer..
I can find out for you.. but I remember it was made by Barnett... the only thing that was a direct plug in was to the lights at the lights and under the tank and in front of the rear fender where the rears plug inRemember what kit it was?

everything in the cluster including the speedometer (which is still working properly) is original. at idle all lights flash as designed so its not a diode problem. it just seems like something is not telling the tach ring the right input for RPMS. I know I'm probably not using the proper terminology because I'm not really sure how to describe it technically. What gauge did u use to replace it with because I was told I would have issues trying to use a BDM gauge or a replacement style gauge like the one listed in this thread
