There are two bills going through the house and senate in FL, Bill 802 in the Senate and HB 137 in the House

Both bills result in legistation discriminating against motorcyclists, they allow the full seizure of your motorcycle if an an officer determines that you were 30 mph over the speed limit, or he feels you were driving reckless.

The bills do not apply to cars, trucks, boats etc. ABATE is working hard to stop this but your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't live here write the bill sponsor, Sentate President and the Volusia County Senator letting them know if these are placed into law you will not be coming to FL for vacation anymore that they will loose the thousands of dollars you and your family spend in FL. That you will be going to more bike friendly states such as Myrtle Beach SC and skip Daytona.

Let them know you passing this information on to your friends not to come to FL.

If you live in FL contact your rep and let them know this bill is discriminating against motorcyclists, and that if they are going to pass it the bill should apply to all moving vehicles, trucks, cars, boats, planes, bicycles etc. Go to the Presidents page and use the drop down to find your representative.

ABATE is working on getting it stopped or amended to all vehicle types, once that is done the whole state will come up against it, nobody wants thier car seized right now it's only motorcycles

More than likely if it were to pass it will be immediately challenged as discriminatory and defeated.

You want to be convincing, letting them know that passage of this bill will cost Florida Millions because the story is going out on every motorcycle board nationwide, to magazines, news articles everywhere to warn motorcycle riders to avoid FL or they could loose their bikes to an officers decision.

Unfortunately a lot of these bills are being pushed not because of riders of American bikes (other than sound levels) but because of crazy stunt riding hyper bike riders. I can not tell you how many times I have had guys do wheelies past me on the 95 or in town in FL. But still it is not fair if they are going to call the bikes on it cars should also be confiscated.

Besides it is UnAmerican, in this country it has always been a pay as you play capatilist system, which I am cool with. You speed and get caught you pay your fine, you know pandering for the state.

They are tired of scraping those dumb Asses off the ground and out of the windshields of innocent people. It only takes a few to fuck it up for everyone!!!! I bet 90% of all the deaths during bike week are from kids on crotch rockets!! Funny thing about those laws they are generated by bikes they cant catch!!! It won’t help a bit!!! I do not understand the mentality of parents getting their kids those bikes in the first place, I come from a family of bikers and in High school I had to ride a 250 Kawi enduro till I graduated in fact a photo was in the other forum. My Dad knew better than to get me anything bigger, and he was smart to he knew I would be a better bike handler if I learned to ride in the dirt a little first. But yeah we have to pay all together for the stunt riders.

I have to say the the bill is F'd up, not IMHO due to the 30 MPH over, but due to it only applies to MC. It is one of those bills based on reaction verse fairness and value. More than likely, someone has got fed up with Superbikes passing them way to fast, someones kid got killed, etc.

If they want to make a bill as such that encompasses all Motor Vehicles that exceed 30MPH, than so be it. Then at least you know it is balanced and includes the street racers in the Old Muscle Cars or supped up Accords, as well as some High Ball trucker.

My gut would be to stick to the current, right the ticket if and if reckless (other traffic on road, conditions of road, weather, drunk, unlicensed, uninsured, etc), then throw the book at them. All vehicles equally!

My 2cents, make it fair and sensible.
