Upgrades while doing old school rewire - advise?? help??

Guys, I need some advise!

I love to wrench on my bike - I cant help myself! To me its just as much of a love as riding it! So anyway, this winter I am planning on an old school rewire. I'm doing it myself.

The kit I bought is a Harley style kit sold by NAMZ. It is their brand new "whole bike rewire kit". Has 1 starter relay, 3 fuses, a badlands signal module, and all wiring and Deutsch connectors.

My bike is an 03 so it already has 1" Harley controls and switches on it, and I plan to keep them.

Here is what I need advise on: what other "while I am at it" upgrades should I consider? I don't want to rewire then cut up to do mods later. I want to do it all at once! I pretty much plan to keep the bike stock, not looking for lights or bling. I plan to keep all switches and idiot lights functional.

All I can think of is:
1) horn (replacement and possible relocation)
2) new ignition (advise???)
3) key switch???
4) slam button
5) chrome braided handle bar wires

***PLEASE*** don't turn this thread into EHC vs old school rewire argument.

Let's just discuss "while I am at it" upgrades while doing old school wiring.

Please throw ideas at me!!!! Thanks!!!

not enough time 4 riding
Two that I can think of

1) headlight upgrade - HID or LED
2) auxiliary port ports for heated gear/ phone charger/ whatever

You might want to check into using relays for the horn and any headlight changes also.

1) Horn.... I never use mine my throttle and finger works better
2) Daytona Twin Tec LLC - Model 1005 Ignition for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
3) Key Switch: Replaced mine with a 3 way switch (Farmall tractor part) ;)
4) Love my Slam Button
5) If you want to spend the cash internal control handle bars (Wish I could throw that much money at my bike but my new bars are really clean)

If you go with new bars you will have an issue with mounting the old big dog speedo. I am looking for the right Speedo (Dakota Digital leading the way)

K&M Air Filter is always great

A higher gear front sprocket for better top speed

my .02 cents

Good Luck

I am definitely keeping the stock bars and controls. I will read up on the ignition. Would like to run horn thru the switch w/o a relay if I can get away with it. Really want to keep the start button on the bars too.

I did already install the WSW LED headlight, good to go there!

Thanks guys! If anybody has more thoughts, love to hear em!

That's a nice rewire kit. Just doing the rewire is upgrade enough. A new horn, lights can all be wired in later when it's running fine and you can count on it. My horn doesn't have a relay just a pos & neg wire and the pos comes from the handlebar switch. (you might have to reverse that) Good luck, let us know how it turned out.

Only thing I can think of that I havent seen mentioned yet is compression releases (if you don't already have them).

How can you wire the bike with the EHC and the Twin-Tec? I have bypassed the EHC and now have two switches and not Tach.
