Underseat Plastics

As you can see, the plastic is broken around the bolt hole.

Does anyone have the same problem?

What glue can I use from the inside to stop it growing....

There has been a fix for this. It's the push pins vice screws you now have. Some on here have fixed the cover themselves by fiberglassing them. With you way over across the pond you might want to try this. I would still contact BDM and see if you can get the grommets and pushpins that eliminate this stress point.

Thanks Raywood, I will actually be in Minnesota on the 8th this month for a week, will pass by the Big Dog dealer there and see if he has those grommets and push pins.

All considered you might want to email the dealer and ask him to keep a kit for you. This way you are sure to get one.

In addition, you may want to reach out to BDM regarding the covers them selfs - based on what I read they have been quite good about replacing them - considering they are all black (I think) and have no complicated paint scheme, they might even be able to get it to the dealer befor your arrival. If they do that they will include the kit that Ray talked about.
Good luck - duct tape on the underside will work well for now :) :)

There is a service bulletin for this problem. And BD has a reinforcement kit available. You might get them to send you one. Its some kind of fiberglass stiffing plates or similar. Saw it at the dealer:hi:

Lebo, I had that same problem and mine are mono black. Like Staffy said you should contact BDM. I'm sure they have yours on the shelf. I went through my dealer to get a new set of covers and "push-pin upgrade". 3000 miles later and no more cracks:2thumbs:

Just get a good grade two part clear epoxy and cover the crack good and let it cure. It held up in my case. I just keep my cracked side covers and fixed them. Now I have a spare set.

Keep us informed on how it goes:cheers:

BDM replaced mine for free with paint. Eventhough is was out of warranty they still honored the TSB. The dealership contacted BDM and they sent me a set in about two weeks. They come with a reinforced inner shell and horn relocation kit. The bottom bolts together instead of individually. I would talk to BDM Dealership before I bought anything.

Is my grommet kit the new one? I have 2 pins and the holes has grommets
Yes, the old style was pinch/squeeze bolts. You screwed them in and it expanded the rubber gripping the side panel. Seems this push pin has done the job. Haven't yet heard anyone's side panels breaking with them.

I just got mine back yesterday. With the new pushpin kit too. They repainted them free and fixed the cracks (or just painted a new pair, who knows). Anyway, I'm way outta warranty and they did anyway! Woo hoo big dog is the shit!

I was missing a complete piece from where the bolt went through. Took it to my neighbour who does body work. He cut a piece out of a Honda car heater box that was the same thickness. He melted it together with a heat gun and then atttached some kind of glue with a hardener. Drilled out the hole and ready for installation. I touched it up with some paint, but you won't see it underneath.

Thanks everyone, I am in Minesotta now, will get in touch with BDM and hope they can help me out. (will try for the kit and seee if they can replace them to) They have done a great job in the past with my Trani, starter and clutch recalls despite me being overseas, hope they can do the same here..

No I come here about 2-3 tiems a year, my brother lives in Minisotta.

We love coming here, shoping, kids entertainment, etc...
My kids were born here as I was stationed in Egypt and Saudi Arabia then and would not risk putting my wife in any of their hospitals....
