ultima open primary squeal

last weekend I installed an ultima 3-3/8 open primary with the outer bearing support. last night I got the bike out for about 30 miles. towards the end of my ride the primary started squealing/chirping. when I got home I noticed the belt is riding all the way out on the outside of the pulley. I don't see any obvious way of aligning it, the motor plate is one piece. im going to try flipping the belt, and I guess I can shim out the front pulley a few thousandths. besides belt dressing anyone have any ideas?

Moe did you use a nice straight edge to make sure that the front and rear pulley faces are in perfect alignment? If they are out then you must shim the front pulley out to match the rear. This is usually what causes belt walk.

Just did that Al and they look straight. Tomorrow I'm going to run it without the bearing support to see how it goes. My motor plate is one piece as well.

Moe,
From what I remember the belt is supposed to track outward (upfront) and from what you describe - seems right on.
The belts have a couple of different weaves in order to achieve this - i forget the details - Jim from Karata was explaining this to me a while ago and do hope he chimes in.
A old trick that might work if you are willing to work with a small puddle and mess is - while the bike is idling pour some water on the front pulley - where the rubber meets the metal edge. Give it a shot.....
