UK registration - Can anyone help?

I imported an 08 mastiff and it arrived with a Tennessee Certificate of Title showing it as a 2008 model. There was no further information other than the year. DVLA in their wisdom assume that date of first registration is 01.01.08 meaning that they can only issue me with an 07 registration. Has anyone else encountered this problem and does anyone know how to find the Date of First Registration or Date of Manufacture? Ideally I wish to have an 08 registration with the bike.
Any help will be appreciated!!

Cheers Chris, I appreciate your reply. I really need to know the month of manufacture or registration. I have been on to many VIN sites offering more detailed information at a cost, but unfortunately none have been able to give me a particular month. Would you happen to know of anywhere that could be more specific? Cheers, Tom

If you know who you bought it from, they should be able to tell you when they registered the bike....or contact the state of Tennesee?
