Turn Signals ?

Hi Guys,
I have a 2003 Bd Chopper and I am having problems with the turn signals not turning off. If I turn on the left signal it keeps flashing and so does the right one until I turn the key off :bang:. Has any one had this problem? I know the ech could be the problem but this is the only problem with the whole bike. I got the bike kinda as a repo (long story) and have had a new starter put on. The starter works great,now if I could just get my blinkers to shut off lol! Thanks

It's the EHC that communicates to the turn signals ..... poor connections may be a causing factor or possibly a bad turn signal switch .... are you saying that the emergency flashers are flashing when you push the L/H turn signal ?

Hi Five,
Once you turn on the signal left or right they do not turn off on their own. So I guess weather it is a blinker or the flashers they just won't turn off.

Hey Stacey,
so everything worked before you replaced the starter .... so go back and check all your connections and make sure all your battery connections going to the starter are making good contact ..... especially the negative battery cable that runs to the starter... I dont want to beleive that the EHC failed just because you put in a new starter.

Here is the bad news the turn signals were doing this before the starter was replaced. I got this bike in July and they have done this since I got the bike. I ride to work early (still dark) and just thought if it were maybe a reset button or a switch I could fix it. I am going to do the wires plus to replace the ehc over the winter anyway. Just thought if there was something simple to check it would be safer on those dark rides to work early in the morning.

Thats a good question! Did 03 have self canceling signals or do you have to press the button again to cancel?

Not sure but thought I read somewhere they were supposed to shut off after 10 seconds??

Yes mines an 03 and they turn off auto

No they just keep flashing lol very irritating especially if you bump the button........then you have to pull over and shut down turn the key off to make it stop.

Looks like EHC, or you could try pulling the two nine pin connectors on the EHC clean them out, install some dielectric grease and reinstall them

being that you said if you bump the button and it does it....maybe take apart the hand controls and see if there is a loose connection or a wire that's grounding out on the bars...

If the signal turns ON by pressing the turn button it makes sense that the button works, right? So if you press the turn button to turn OFF the signal and it stays ON then I would say it's the EHC electronics.

Why?

Because the turn button uses the same wires (signal and ground) to signal the EHC to TOGGLE the function ON then OFF.

If pressing the turn button ALWAYS turns ON the signal but never turns it OFF then all should be good down to and including the EHC connections.
