i searched quite a bit and couldnt seem to find another person with the same issue. here is what happened, and what is going on now.
the bike started randomly dying for no reason. cycle the key, it would start right up. then the low beam started going out, finally today it would not start at all, it would put up an amber LED, jiggle the harness, amber goes out, bike would start.
I did some research and found out it could be the plug at the headlight causing all my problems so I pulled the light, and sure enough the H4 connector was melted to a puddle of goop and the spades sparked when going from low to high beam. I ordered a ceramic high temp/high wattage connector with 12 gauge wires and cut the old off, then soldered the new connector in. all is well, headlight works, bike back up and running.
this is where my current issue lies.
applying the brakes, the brake lights go solid on, let off, solid tail light. it used to flash 3 times every time the brakes were applied.
when the turn signal button is pushed for either side, only the front bulb on the side selected turns on, going from solid marker light to solid blinker brightness, no flashing. switch to the other side, same thing, no rear turn signal light activity at all. from here, i can only switch them from one to the other, no cancelling. the only way to cancel is to turn the hazards on, then off (these functioning normally at both ends) when the turn signals are selected the amber light returns, but bike will remain running. upon selecting the flashers, the amber blinks with them.
