When you go to put them in... try some waterless hand sanatizer... it will lube it for a bit, then dry completely within mins.

All you get is 2 grommet's per cover. The bottom uses the existing black grommet. They should also have sent you a piece of rubber to go over your belt guard, so it can't rub on the cover.

well here in lies the problem with the existing black grommet, one of them is on I-30 between dallas and texarkana and the other was shipped back to BDM for repairs , so when I recieved my covers back that is all I got, nothing else. Well I called BDM and told them this and they shipped me the kit but no bottom grommets. Hopefully I can get them from either BDM or somewhere. Just want to see my bike in one piece for atleast a month. I'm sure BDM will ship them to me, heck when I called about the top ones I had them in 2 days :2thumbs: .

You know, at first they considered making the side covers out of carbon fiber. But decided it would cost too much, so they made them out of plastic to save costs. Warrenty issues are a bitch when you cut corners like that. All of us in the paint shop hated "another set of sides" to repaint! Again. 6 months later, repaint them again.

Ok- to follow up on all this, I got new side covers sent to me and still have ,my old ones. Problem is the same, no grommets top or bottom came wit new ones. So will have to take out old ones.......anybody have a good method off the top of their head on how to remove them w/out damaging them as I have no spares!! Don't want to damage the old covers if I can get away with it.

Lots of lube, that is about the best you can do. Mine went in pretty easy with the wd 40 trick. should work also for removal.

if it were me..I would just order new grommets for the top and the 2 black ones for the bottom.....when I got mine back ..mine never had any grommets either....called my dealer and they sent me new orange ones for the top...and they sent me(had to order) the 2 black ones for the bottom...I just took my time inserting them in the covers

Are these grommets available anywhere?
I purchased a kit from Dennis Kirk about a year ago. Saw it on ebay. My covers were starting to crack so I reinforced them with a layer of fiberglass mat and glue, then replaced all the grommets from the kit.
