trip counter not working - 2001 BD ProSport

I've got the single tank mounted speedo with a black button toward bottom of face. I had asumed pressing it would show a trip counter, but no dice. did the 2001 models have a trip counter, and if so, mines probably fubared?

Yep Should have one. Pressing scrolls between the two. Holding it in for a couple seconds resets to zero. My old speedo lost the digital read on the odometer about year 10. I was fortunate to find a random speedo on ebay and it plugged right in.

Thanks Rick- yep pressing mine does nada / zip. but the mileage display is fine and the gauge itself looks like it just came off the showroom floor. well maybe it's time for a Dakota.. But I am still trying to learn what would fit / work for an aftermarket replacement and the general wiring of the bike. Although I do kinda like the old-skool look of the factory BD speedo. without a trip counter I'm kinda guessing at gas level.

ok I got it to work! It just needed a bit more pressing to work some stickiness out of the switch . I don't think the previous owner ever used it. Well there goes one of my justifications to buy a Dakota... ;p
