Here's a cheap mod to get rid of the black rubber hose

What is it? Does it still vent?

Yours may be different being you have a right side drive. And yes it still vents, but from the backside of the spike.

No it didn't come with an o ring but you could put one on. It just slips over the nipple(pretty tight fit) and stays put with a set screw.(which I had to shorten a bit) The vent hole is on the taper portion and you just turn it so it faces the backside.
