Anyone else experienced this? Baker DD6 right side drive, the screw holding the countershaft came loose allowing the countershaft to shift right. The gear dug into the support plate and the shavings bound the thing up.

Owner was lucky, slid 40 yards from 55mph without laying it down.

Glad he wasn't hurt and saved the bike. I had this happen to me also but my countershaft bolt never came all the way out so the countershaft never came loose it didn't bind up either. It was a SB 1090 I believe I know for 06' models. You might need to call Baker to repair it. I had mine rebuilt by a member that used to be on BDB for about $300. I hope you get things worked out. I will see if I can find pictures of it on my other computer and post.

Rubwhore turned me on to a guy in Gulfport, MS that changed out my mainshaft after it broke. He does good work and at a reasonable price. You may want to PM Rubwhore to get his number if you're interested. I had mine repaired in less than a week. No problems since.

Thanks for the suggestion Brad, but I'm capable of repairing it. Just looking to help the owner if possible w/recall or warranty. Besides informing others of the potential failure.

there was a time limit on that recall and it was in 05, my buddies ridgeback had that problem and he had to bring it in by a certain time

Countershaft shifted on mine also at 7500 miles. Stuck in 3rd gear......they covered mine. But thats been a couple of years ago.

I had one break a gear and lock up on me, 3:00 in the morning, on the way home from a long night of partying, drunk and had a girl on the back....the last thing I would have ever expected....was going about 50-55 at the time.....bike went all over the place, but thanks to my cat-like reflexs and superb riding skill, (LOL) I managed to keep it up....

Apparently so..I have a second '05 to pull down in the shop now. It is having a 4 gear engagement problem. Baker seems to think the counter shaft screw has come loose on this one too.

This one, the second '05, has a shifter fork problem...IMHO, we will see what Baker has to say about it. Shipped the box off on Monday.
