TRANSMISSION Issue

My 05 Chopper has been in the shop now for over a month for a transmission problem. First the service tech told me it was just a little tight and probably is a shim issue (need more or less shims). Later he told me he spoke with BDM and they think it's probably bent forks and/or fork shaft. He ordered the new forks and fork shaft, installed them, and it still isn't right. He spoke with BDM again and they said there may be lateral shaft movement when trying to engage the gear and that he should replace a "tapered allen screw". So now he told me that he's got to remove the primary to replace the tapered screw and replace the seals. It's going on 6 weeks that they've got the bike for the transmission, and now they want to take the primary off. I'm not that technically saavy but I don't see why the primary would have to come off for a transmission problem. Does anyone out there think this sounds a little fishy?

I'm not a pro like many others on here but I'm surprised the primary is not off already.

Primary has to come off to replace the seals on the tranny. In addition, if they are having multiple problems, it probably would have been better to pull the tranny for a full inspection.

Exactly what Chacha said. Plus you can't pull the tranny without pulling the entire primary off. And like Pig Pen said... I'm surprised it wasn't already off.
