transmission fluid?

OK, the service manual sucks in some areas; I have questions on what lubes to put in the transmission.

I just went and bought a quart of Amsoil 75-90 severe lube to put in the transmission. I got home and re-read the service manual and it says "transmission fluid", 22 oz. (page 11-8).

I am wondering now if they mean ATF (or trickshift) or the 75w-90w stuff I bought?

Based on what the Bandit clutch site said, I bought the Golden Motorcycle Gear Lubricant for the primary case and of course I am using Amsoil 20w-50w v-twin oil in the engine.

Any one able to decipher what the manual means? (75w-90w or ATF (or trickshift))?

you'll be fine with that. Many use ATF in the primary, me included, but I've not heard of anyone using it in the trans

i just put amisol 90-140 in my tranny and i asked the experts there and they said that in the south (Texas be me ) where we have the higher/hotter temps that we should use the heavier gear oil....up north where it might be cooler, they recommend the lighter weight...my .02$ :2thumbs:
