Trans leaking from vent hose

Hey guys,,, need some help or suggestions. Changed the tranny fluid about 2 weeks ago (Redline / Shockproof) and have rode about 300 miles since and now I have fluid leaking from the vent hose. Put in 20oz. The fluid is leaking to the point in which when riding, it's getting all over the frame and near the rear of the tag bracket. Bikes got just over 25K, and otherwise runs flawless! It's an 08 Mastiff.

suggestions?

thanks,,,

Your dipstick should tell you that you have the right amount of fluid in the tranny. Check while bike is level. I can't say that I've ever read where tranny fluid is coming out the vent tube unless the tank was overfilled. Check your dipstick just to make sure. Some of these tranny guys will have to jump in on this.

checked that,, i was concerned that it was too low with all the fluid I've leaked. it's low now.

Thought.......Are you sure you drained all the fluid out before refilling ?
I agree. Most tranny fluid is thick. Did you drain it after riding, when the bike was warm/hot? If not probably didn't get all the old fluid out.

I've been into my tranny but can't remember if the drain has a screen in place before the tube connects to it. I bet it does. You may want to call baker and ask and check to make sure yours still has a screen. Baker should also be able to tell you any other reasons why fluid would come out your vent hose.

check this out,, i check the fluid with the bike upright, and I AM over! When I drained the fluid, the bike was warm, level on the lift, and when i installed the plug the fluid had completely stopped dripping. The thing is the fluid smells more like primary than tranny???

I only put in 17 or 18 oz. when i change because there always is some left in the transmission even if you dump it when hot.

The seal between the trans/primary on the input shaft could be letting fluid in when you ride.
If I remember correctly, the tranny sits higher than the fluid level in the primary. If the seal is bad, I've always heard that you will lose tranny fluid into the primary, but never the other way around. I think you just found the reason why you're venting tranny fluid out. You over filled. There's no other fluid getting in your tranny other than what you put in there.

Bike needs to be sitting level when you check the fluid and when you fill it. 20 oz. should put you on the mark.
