Trans kicking down a gear

I cant figure out what the hell is going on now with my 06 Mastiff. At first I thought maybe I was doing something, but I am sure it isnt me. While accelerating and going through the gears my bike sometimes will go from 4th back down to 3rd, it did it 3 times my lasy ride. I have made sure I am postively shifting, but it will kick down and rev up.:loony:

Sounds like clip broke allowing the gear to slide on the main shaft therfore not holding in gear, I would pop the top on the tranny asap before doing more damage.

By the sound of it’s defiantly worth a look. Or it could be that the linkage is loose not allowing the trans to fully engage into gear.

Anythings possible but I would think if this was the case it would be doing it in all gears not just 4th, by it just being 4th I would think it's gotta be internal. Does it kick out under a load under when you back off the throttle?

HEY WHATEVER..... MINE DOES THAT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE BUT MINE JUMPS FROM 3RD BACK TO SECOND UNDER AN ACCELRATING LOAD. STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE CAUSE OF THAT YET.

I have a similar type of thing happen every once in a while when shifting from first to second......if I shift too lightly, and even thought there is no neutral light and the bike starts to pull, it all of a sudden drops back into neutral (the next "gear" down) and I have to reset and re-shift into second.
