Tranny Oil

I'm running the Red-Line upon recomendation from several trusted friends, one that rides accross the country a couple times a year. Just make sure you have something else to do while it's drining out or pouring in, it's so damn thick it takes a long time.

I can't decide what to put in the tranny. I know a few are running the heavy stuff. Please chime in.

Heavy ShockProof

V-Twin Transmission Oil

So... What are YOU running and why?
Well the tranny's are made by Baker and they recommend Redline Heavy Shockfroof so that's what I run.
But, I only have a few miles on my scoot so can't say for sure if its the best oil out there.
I have only changed it out about every 20,000 miles or so as it doesn't see the the same abuse as the motor oil! Keep you clutch cable lubed and you tranny topped off and you should see lots of mileage between changes.

Recently I ordered some trans fluid and I noticed that they have that new stuff out well not wanting to take any risks and also noticed they still sell the old regular shockproof i decided aganst the new shockproof unless I hear from someone thats used it.

Redline Heavy Duty Shockproof ... been in there for 2K+ miles and works great - better shifting and less noise -- as Raywood say's its a Baker and they recommend it.

I use Redline HD Shockproof in mine. I have seen the new V-Twin Shockproof and gave it some consideration for my next change but the regular HD Shockproof lasts a long time, so as Ray says, just keep your clutch cable lubed and your good to go for quite a few thousand miles between changes. Also as Sparks said, find something else to do while it's draining or going in to your tranny, HD Shock moves very slow in each direction. At the end of the day, Redline HD Shockproof is a proven and recommended fluid so untill someone shows otherwise stay with that which has proven to be the best. My 2cents.:2thumbs:

Baker recommends 5 transmission fluids in their assembly manual.

Look at page 12. This does not mean these are the only ones you can use.

Redline Heavy Shock Proof
Spectro 75w 140spl
Bel Ray 80w 90
Torco 85w 140
Screaming Eagle 20w50

I currently using the Redline Heavy Shock Proof and having great performance/low noise with it. I understand that many others on this forum use it also.

The BDM "07" manual says "NOT" to use a synthetic in the trans. Is HD a synth?
"HD" was in reference to the Red Line Heavy Duty Shockproof - is it or the Red Line V-twin trans w/shockproof synthetic oils?

My bike is under warranty for another 23 months and I don't want to give BDM any excuses.

Thanks.
