Tranny noise

I got a strange "tick" from my tranny when rolling the bike around in neutral. Have it up on a lift now and was hoping to get some input before it rip it apart.
Was wondeing if in fact this could be resolved by just opening up the tranny inspection (top) cover and making some adjustments, or the whole tranny had to come off. Could it be the bearing? I may have overtightened the belt at some point :angry:

you sure that's not just the belt when it makes contact with the pulley?

Thanks for the input - hard to tell if in fact it is the belt.

What is surprising - While on the lift after up/down shifting of the gears the noise dissapears - It then all of a sudden reappears -no consistent pattern - leaves me stumped.

That's not the belt.

Take the belt off to see what it sounds like. What does it sound like from the primary side? Its hard to get a feel for it by the video.

Mine was doing the same thing. I noticed the tick when I would put it in neutral kill the engine and roll into the garage. Pulled the trans and sent it to Baker. They replaced a bent shift rod and 2 bent shift forks (or so they say they did anyway).

I will take the belt off and check, will let you know the outcome. I am leaning towards a bad bearing or bent shift rods as V stated. Like "V" I noticed the "tick" when rolling the bike in and out of the garage.

Pretty sure the noise is from the tranny/drive side - have a 4" Karata open primary, removed the OBS to inspect that further - all good on that end.

Since it’s on the lift will do my last piece of due diligence - i.e. remove the belt and check to see if in fact the noise is from the tranny, if so I will just button the bike back n ride out the season. Will send the tranny off to Baker in winter. Just don’t have the equipment to support any repairs to the tranny.
