tranny mainshaft seal

greetings everyone
i have an 07 k9 with a mainshaft transmission seal leak, the primary is filling the transmission with primary fluid and spitting it all over the bike through the vent line :confused: has anyone changed one before? ive removed the drive gear and clutch basket assembly and i dont really know how much more i have to remove... any help would be appreciated! and merry christmas to all!

That should be all you need to take off. Call Baker Transmission and get the oil seal. If you take of the inside primary cover or motor plate you will have to get the O rings too. Looks like you only need the seal. Make sure the shaft does not have any play in it. If it does than your shaft bearings are gone and will have to rebuild the tranny because the seal will not hold for mor than a week or so. Hope that helps

i dont think it needs it but if i had to get the tranny rebuilt, what kind of cost am i looking at?

Depending on what is wrong with it, if its a refresh type you may bet away with less than you think. Call Baker and they should be able to give you a quote. I think there is a member on here that does this kind of work, maybe he or others will chime in and help you out with more details.

Do a Search on tranny rebuilds and you will see some of the issues and solutions others have posts :2thumbs:
