was out riding and had a primary grind/scraping noise coming from primary, called tow truck and as i was pulling bike onto flatbed rear wheel locks up when i released the clutch and bike dies so i pushed onto flatbed, i have recently installed bandit set up on bike, maybe 300 miles on it, pulled primary, clutch nut tight,,alignment good between front sprocket and clutch sprocket, pulled clutch basket out and no play in mainshaft runout or bearing play up or down sideway etc. rotated rear wheel and tranny turns fine, no lockup or noise, i am however seeing alot of play on the splined shafts between the mainshaft and flanged hub, up down etc. when hub is torqued i dont have the play in flanged hub but i am sure under motor torque it is cocking with the play,, question is, how much play/gap do these bikes have between flanged hub and mainshaft splines? are the splines when slid together super tight or maybe 1/32 or 1/16 -1/64 of play? does one wear out quicker then the other because of hardening?i know i can replace the mainshaft with a rebuild but is the flanged hub still available anywhere? wow long post drinking while wrenching on a friday night got the best of me so any input is appreaciated:cheers:
