Tranny leaking!

Just rode 100 miles from Hernando County to Gainesville and when I got here noticed I had oil spray all over the right side and tire. I was cruising at about 70 all the way and it looks like it isn't a solid flow but drops spraying back. I let it sit overnight and no oil is on the ground and only one drop on the bottom. Can I ride it 40 miles to the nearest dealer or should I have it towed?

How do I check the level? I am out here without tools by the way...I know I'm an idiot.

to check the level use the dipstick. Are you sure the leak is from the tranny?

Now I feel like a complete ass...where is the tranny dipstick? I have searched all over the thing and I am certain it is coming from the right side where the cover of the drive belt mounts to the tranny.

Dip stick and filler pt.

However, more questions. Were you hot rodding it? Check your air filter. I bet you were pukin oil from the rear breather to the air cleaner.

I have never gotten it over 3K RPM. I am not a hot rodder by any stretch of the imagination. It has been two days now since wiping it down and no more signs of leakage. I thought it might be the air cleaner but I had no oil on the pipes (V&H BB). I am leaving Gainesville today and heading south to the nearest service dealer. I am going to take the back roads to avoid the interstate and with fingers crossed I am hoping the trans does not seize.

by the way it is an 06 chopper with 7500 miles. Just coincidentally it is due for a service anyway.

I will let you know what they say tonight.

Like Gas Man said check the bottom of your air cleaner with you hand to the inside edge.

Thaks to all for helping. Got it to the dealer and te seal was in fact leaking. It only happened when I would cruise for an extended time so I took it slow.

They replaced the seal under warranty and all is well now.

Thanks again.
