thanks for the feedback, so here is a little back at you. my '07 K9 has roughly 17K on it and is still running the original EHC with no problems that I am aware of. and it looks like all you are looking at changing is the headlight and the tires, sounds like a winner to me.

Rick, like the rest of the members I am so glad you were not injured any worse than you were. You must be a very strong and composed individual to be able to sit down and create a post like yours so soon after such a scary accident.

You are also one of the most committed bikers I have ever heard of. Most guys would say enough is enough and just give it up after surviving an accident like that. I am glad to see you were able to replace you're K9 with one in such pristine condition. Good luck to you and thanks to Train Guy for being such a great guy.

Well, It finally happened. Blacktopper and I were on our way to Sturgis...we had traveled a total of 108 miles, and I am embarrassed to admit I wound up in a collision with a Honda Civic in morning rush hour traffic in Kansas City. Absolutely shelled out my Mean Streets Avalon front end and tweaked the frame of my beautiful K9. I got a bruise and a tender rib from landing on my .45 (I'm now considering the merits of a derringer), but was otherwise uninjured.View attachment 59763
We had our wives drive up with a trailer, and hauled the bikes back home. My K9 was ultimately deemed to be a total loss, so I immediately started looking for another one. I was on the Forum a couple of days later, and Don (Trainguy) posted a notice to sell his bike. I responded to express interest, and asked for the price and pictures. It turned out he posted his description first, then went in and added price and photos next. I posted in between those events, and wound up looking like a dumbass, because all the info was there when he updated it seconds later. haha
Anyhow, it didn't take long to understand that he intended to sell it because his best riding buddy passed two years go, and he has no real interest in riding anymore.
I was kinda waffling, because I didn't know for sure if the insurance company would total my bike, and wifey would frown on the idea of yet another Big Dog--in fact she was hoping I'd just be happy with the one--my Bulldog Bagger. Anyhow, Don had agreed to give me some time to make sure, but he was getting pressure from a couple of motivated Forum members who were absolutely prepared to send a deposit immediately. The thought of missing out on this bike was enough to get my pocketbook open, for sure. I sent money immediately.
My son-in-law and I drove up to Michigan Friday, and picked up the bike Saturday morning. BTW--Let me say Don (Trainguy) has a man cave that had us green with envy. So many toys, race cars (a perfect Nova, and an even better 'Cuda). The decor was just as cool. And neat, clean, and organized. I'm telling you, you want to buy a bike from a guy like this......

The bike is pretty much perfect at 4605 miles (my wrecked bike was nearing 75,000 miles). Don's original post listed many accessories:

So-- am now the owner of Trainguy's 2008 K9, to replace my 2008 K9. I want to also add that Don is a guy I would ride with anytime anywhere. He had the lift disassembled and ready to load, and even did the lion's share of the loading. Don had drinks and snacks, and even sent us on our way with some candy bars. He was a railroad engineer for decades...no wonder he likes cars and bikes.
At this point I would like to say one thing very clearly: Don decided to get out of motorcycling, and made a decision to give someone a hell of a deal. And I'm very happy to be the guy who was online when he posted that ad. There may be bikes that have sold cheaper, but this sale involved a bike with total mileage comparable to just one of Roger's and my long rides, and the bike has so many custom items! It even has a tri-bar gas cap, and a temperature gauge dipstick (yes-Big Dog label). And don't forget the 10X4' table lift. Don made a conscious decision to give one Forum member a hell of a deal, and I am very pleased to replace my beautiful wrecked bike with another of equal quality.
I want to thank Don and acknowledge his stance of generosity to benefit another Forum member.
Your Dog has a new home Trainguy, and I will be a good steward of your good will to the Forum. I hope you stay with us online for years to come.

Thank You Rick for saying all those nice things. From a sellers perspective when we make a decision to sell anything ( Bike- Car- Boat ) we hope that the sale go's smooth an quickly. Well quickly is an understatement, I hadn't even completed the listing on the bike in the first attempt on the first listing anywhere. I couldn't help but think "This is to good to be true" right? Well it wasn't. Rick sent me a PM an a picture of his "Pile Of K-9" there on the road an I like everyone else was more glad that he was OK than the sale of the bike. Within a few days this guy from Kansas is at my house to adopt my dog. I know the Dog has gone to a good home.
Several members here on the Forum contacted me through PM's during this listing an sale of the bike but one member Paul ( pknowles ) Who I have never met YET said " Come on down anytime you can ride my bike". These are the kind of people that make the Forum what it is.

What an Awesome story, from both sides. This is exactly why I am here on this forum...Quality People and the Brotherhood. I wear a patch on my vest that says "If you have to ask, I cant explain it to you" this story epitomizes what that patch means to me. I haven't been a member very long and haven't met any of ya'll in person(YET) but I have already made a few friends and gotten lots of great help. It is great to know that if you ever need it someone has your back. It makes me happy to know that everyone was safe in this accident, a Dog found a new home and new friendships were born. Totally AWESOME
