Twisted you are right,..it couldn't be any worse than riding it..I'm going to use an open utility trailer and try and devise some kind of rock guard on the front and not trailer in the rain...:)

That scares me to death. In the 60's my buddy brought a Harley to my chopper shop in the back of his truck. He used a 2x12 to unload it. the 2x12 broke in the middle and the bike landed on top of him. Crushed his pelvis, knee, ribs and who knows what else. He never was the same and it took him a couple of years just to ride again. He always had a limp/gate and took pain pills all the time. He went downhill fast and died about 10 years later.

Another guy I know used an Alum ramp and it came unhooked unloading. The same thing happened to him. As Elmer said "Be warry, warry scared" to do that... Life's too short my friend...

My dad use to put his Harley in the back of the truck we had an aluminum ramp and you chained it to the truck so it didn't slide out. It was safe If used right.

Now putting a big dog chopper in a truck would require an extremely long ramp due to the clearance to the ground. Or parking the truck on a hill. And I don't think its worth the hassle.

Yeah Bill wasn't the safest! I went to take a look at the bike out of state, wanted it and didn't want to have to travel back with a trailer to pick it up another day. Guy had a big hill in his front yard so I backed my truck up to the hill and used a wide aluminum ramp he had. Getting it out, I had to get inventive, luckily I found a nearby school with a loading dock and a big hill on the side of it. I was able to back the truck up, use a 3 foot section of 2x12 to bridge the gap, and roll it off. I was more afraid of the tailgate cables snapping on the ride!!!

I never trailered my bikes until I hit 60 yrs old and got a new girlfriend with 2 dogs.... Hard to take 2 dogs and her on the bike... Got a 6x10 low boy trailer with a loading gate. Super easy to get on and off plus I can use it to haul shit... We also halter the 2 dogs in the trailer and they love the ride!
